Open Question: Transferring to Colleges in USA and Canada?

I'm a high school senior in an international school in Bangkok, enrolled in the IB Diploma. I'm a good student, with a cumulative GPA of 3.8 for grades 9 to 11, and an SAT score of 1880. However, during the first semester of my senior year, I had some self-confidence issues and ended up making 1 A, 3 B's, 1 D, and 1 F. The rest of my transcript from grades 9-11 contains mostly of A's and a few B's, and I'm trying to return to my usual grades for my second semester. I'm also involved in several extracurricular activities such as MUN, Cross Country, Theatre Ensemble Set Design, Volunteer Community Service, etc. This year, I'm staying back in Bangkok for college, and colleges in Bangkok are not that good, and planning to transfer for my second year. I'm scared, however, that I won't be accepted for two reasons. Firstly, that the university in Bangkok is not well known. And Secondly, that my first semester senior grades might ruin my chances. I want to apply to colleges such as University of Toronto, University of California San Diego, Colgate University, and Boston College. Is this possible? Or am I aiming too high for a student with a bad semester and attending a college that is not well known?... Read More »
